I am thrilled to be featured at DZINE Gallery's new exhibit, One of Many, with stellar artists Karyn Gabriel and Tanya Hollis. The three artists use similar media and materials, and present art that replicates patterns and natural processes. As curator Philip Bewley writes: "Material becomes metaphor for time and transformation, for our human identity, our place within a larger community, and for being a witness to the dramatic changes in the world around us."

I am so excited to be selected as a finalist for the 12th International Ceramics Competition in Mino, Japan, a triennial exhibition. Originally scheduled to occur in 2020, the exhibit has been postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

|
This is the second time my work has been selected for this prestigious competition. I was awarded an Honorable Mention in the 11th International Competition, held in 2017 (see below).

It has been four years since Mark Goudy and I had a duo show at Galerie du Don, in Le Fel, France (see below). And now, we are so honored to return to this stellar gallery.
Games of Transparency, contrasts the "exquisite delicacy" that Mark Goudy, Arnold Annen (CH), and Curtis Benzle (USA) achieve in their porcelain works, with the "impenetrable opacity" exemplified by Joan Serra's (ES) and my works.
|
|
NOTE: Due to COVID19, the gallery remained closed during most of the exhibition, which has now finished. All works are still available at the gallery and online. Please contact Galerie du Don for more information.

Join me for Bone Black, a group exhibition opening on November 8, 2019 at DZINE Gallery in San Francisco. Curated by Philip Bewley, the show features work by over 25 San Francsco Bay Area artists working in various media, exploring the intersection between logic, geometry and instinct. I am honored to be the exhibition's featured artist, and will present a new series of ceramic sculptures colored with soluble metal salts.

This annual international show ordinarily only includes wood, but this year ceramic artists were invited since the exhibit coincided with the 2019 NCECA conference in Minneapolis.

"Mark and Liza are internationally recognized as pioneers in the utilization of metallic soluble salts, a technique relatively unexplored until now. Their creations are clad in exquisite surfaces of delicate and rare shades of color.
Liza, inspired by the parched earth of California, erects totemic sculptures exploring the unexpected poetry of the arid ground, while Mark presents a whole gallery of highly tactile forms, sometimes closed, sometimes open, but always with intriguing and seductive surfaces."
